Anais Amin is a Los Angeles-based professional whose work bridges journalism, marketing, and community advocacy. With a strong academic foundation and hands-on industry experience, she has built a career centered on storytelling, strategic communication, and social impact. Her interests in social justice and human-centered narratives shape both her professional pursuits and personal projects, allowing her to use media and branding as tools for meaningful change.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Anais pursued her undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English. During her time at UCLA, she became deeply involved in student leadership, serving as one of only 14 elected and paid council members representing a student body of more than 30,000 undergraduates.
In this role, she advocated for causes such as mental health services for returning veterans, increased access to higher education, and broader social justice initiatives. She also led a team of 40 volunteers, organizing programs that raised awareness and encouraged dialogue on important societal issues. Her leadership extended to moderating a political debate featuring candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, demonstrating her early engagement with civic discourse.
Anais continued her education at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, where she earned a Master of Science degree in 2020. Her studies focused on audio, text, and video journalism, equipping her with a diverse multimedia skill set. Her academic work included a deeply reported 5,000-word project documenting a Syrian refugee family’s journey to the United States, as well as a published personal story about her own family’s escape from genocide. She also produced a video project exploring medication-assisted recovery. She reported on civil and criminal courts in the Bronx, covering complex issues such as institutional abuse and the use of force by private security personnel.
Anais began building her professional career in radio production, gaining experience with respected media organizations. She worked as a production assistant at Marketplace, a nationally recognized public radio program produced by American Public Media, from January to December 2022. In this role, she contributed to both editorial and production processes, including researching and pitching story ideas, pre-interviewing guests, editing audio segments, and writing scripts for broadcast.
Her work also extended to digital storytelling, where she created web content and collaborated with producers to develop engaging narratives. She played a key role in producing same-day interviews and first-person audio essays, demonstrating her ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
Before her full-time position, Anais interned at Marketplace from mid-2021 to the end of that year. During her internship, she supported the production team by booking guests, drafting show rundowns, and editing interviews for air.
Earlier in her career, she worked at KPFK Radio 90.7 FM from 2017 to 2019. There, she produced long-form radio segments, booked expert guests, and developed weekly show topics covering a wide range of issues, including politics, science, and economics. This experience strengthened her ability to translate complex topics into accessible and engaging content.
Alongside her journalism background, Anais has developed a strong presence in marketing and brand management. She currently serves as a Marketing and Brand Manager for a fashion manufacturer, overseeing high-value accounts, leading marketing campaigns, and representing the company in sales initiatives. Her role combines creative storytelling with strategic business development, allowing her to shape brand identity while driving measurable results.
Her earlier experience includes serving as an executive assistant at Pacific Dental Lab, Inc., where she managed marketing efforts, handled accounting, and supported daily operations. She also served as a liaison between management and staff, helping maintain a productive and collaborative workplace.
Anais also contributed to global advocacy efforts as a public relations and marketing intern with The Borgen Project. In this role, she supported initiatives to reduce global poverty by engaging policymakers and creating outreach materials, including videos and social media campaigns. Her work helped build support among elected officials for legislation focused on poverty reduction.
Community engagement has remained a consistent part of Anais’s life. She has volunteered with animal shelters and participated in programs supporting children with special needs at a horse ranch. Her involvement in civic life began early, including volunteering for a local political campaign in California.
She has also supported various humanitarian causes through donations and advocacy, contributing to organizations such as the Children of Armenia Fund and initiatives supporting journalists and small businesses.
Beyond her professional work, Anais is a trained oil painter with a passion for visual storytelling. One of her largest works was unveiled at a public event, highlighting her dedication to artistic expression. She also enjoys photography, using it as another medium to capture meaningful moments and perspectives.
Her personal interests include spending time outdoors, exploring museums, and learning about different cultures. Fluent in both Armenian and English, she is currently working to improve her Spanish, reflecting her ongoing commitment to personal growth and global connection.
